Turn Daily Snaps Into Lifelong Memories with LifeLog
Overview
LifeLog is a photo-based storytelling app designed for students to capture and reflect on everyday moments. With daily reminders and creative prompts, users are encouraged to snap a meaningful or random photo and pair it with a caption. Over time, LifeLog curates these snapshots into beautifully AI-generated memory collages, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly, creating a personal digital scrapbook that highlights the little moments that matter most.

Problem
Students often overlook meaningful moments in the fast pace of school life, making it difficult to reflect on their experiences.
Solution
The app offers a simple, creative way to capture daily memories through photos and captions using AI-generated collages to turn fleeting moments into lasting connections.
Inspiration
I love capturing moments and sharing them on social media, but creating collages can be incredibly time-consuming. I often spend hours choosing the right photos, transferring them to my laptop, outlining images in Photoshop, arranging them in Illustrator, adding hand-drawn elements or text in Procreate, and then searching for additional visuals to tie everything together. It turns something fun into a long, complicated process. I wanted to create something easy and fast to use.
Research & Data
A short survey was created to gather insights from potential users about their interest in a photo-based storytelling app, focusing on daily photo habits, memory-keeping preferences, and desired features. The survey aimed to identify key demographics, user behavior, and emotional motivations behind documenting everyday moments. Responses helped validate the app concept and revealed strong interest across a broad age range, particularly among women.
Conclusion from Data
Based on the research, the app appeals to a broader audience beyond college students, with strong interest from users up to age 42. The concept of capturing and reflecting on meaningful daily moments resonates across age groups, especially among women, who make up the majority of interested users. This wider demographic suggests the app has potential to grow into a versatile platform for digital storytelling/visual journaling for a variety of lifestyles.

Color Palette & Font
I chose pink, white, and various shades of pink for the app's color palette to evoke warmth, softness, and emotional connection, perfect for capturing meaningful, everyday moments. Pink brings a sense of comfort and nostalgia, while white keeps the design clean and minimal. To complement this aesthetic, I chose an organic cursive font for LifeLog, adding a personal, handwritten feel that makes the app feel more like a creative journal than a digital tool.
Design Decisions
I decided on the design that automatically generates a photo collage for the user because it offers an effortless, quick, and simple experience, perfect for people who want to capture memories without spending hours editing. While the alternate option of providing collage templates for users to fill in themselves was considered, it still required more time and effort. The automatic collage feature aligns better with the goal of making memory-keeping fun and easy, especially for users with busy lifestyles.

Takeaways
One key takeaway from creating this app is realizing that I'm not alone in wanting to preserve memories in a fun, quick, and creative way. Many people share the desire to capture small, meaningful moments without the pressure of perfection. This validation reinforced the idea that there's a real need for a simple, engaging platform that makes memory-keeping part of everyday life.
