Design Decisions
For the Impact Report design for the Old Dominion University Student Recreation & Wellness Center, I followed ODU’s brand guidelines by using official shades of blue along with the fonts Open Sans and Vitesse to maintain consistency and professionalism. To give the report a more modern and refreshed feel, I incorporated Filson Pro for the section titles, which paired well with the clean, geometric shapes used throughout. These shapes were intentionally chosen to represent impactful growth and progress, visually reinforcing the positive outcomes and forward momentum highlighted in the report.
Takeways
Being honored to produce the Impact Report for the Student Recreation & Wellness Center at Old Dominion University was a meaningful experience that deepened my appreciation for the center’s role in promoting student health and well-being. It gave me the opportunity to translate complex data and student feedback into a compelling visual narrative that highlighted the center’s achievements and outreach efforts.
Through this project, I gained valuable experience in data visualization, storytelling through design, and understanding how effective communication can strengthen stakeholder engagement. It was especially rewarding to see how design could help convey the tangible, positive effects the center has on the student experience.
